How to Make Broccoli Salad
We wash 1 medium-sized broccoli and place it in a pot. We add water up to halfway up the broccoli in the pot. We add 1 dessert spoon (about 2 tsp) of salt and 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil and let it boil. Once the broccoli is boiled, we drain it thoroughly, separate it into individual florets, and drizzle olive oil over the top. We squeeze as much lemon as we like and serve it just like that. Enjoy your meal...
About This Recipe
Broccoli, which can be found fresh in supermarkets year-round, is a very important vegetable in terms of nutritional value. Even though children and meat lovers may not enjoy the taste of broccoli, it is one of the most important vegetables that should be consumed frequently. Broccoli belongs to the Brassicaceae family, along with cabbage, cauliflower, kohlrabi, and Brussels sprouts.
The most important point to pay attention to when buying broccoli is that its color should be dark green. Right after that, make sure its stems are firm and crisp. Yellowed or wilted broccoli will have reduced nutritional value and will not be of any use — do not buy it. While we're on the subject, it's worth noting right away: 100 grams of raw broccoli provides about 5% of an adult's daily iron and magnesium minerals, and approximately 10% of daily vitamins.
Broccoli sometimes appears in supermarkets and markets under different names. While some of these names are found in the literature, others are general terms used by producers and brands in the agricultural sector. The commonly known broccoli varieties are as follows;
*Green Duke: Spring and autumn are quite suitable seasons for growing this type of broccoli. It takes approximately 50 days to mature.
*Green Comet: It needs 64 days to mature. Autumn is the most suitable season for the harvest.
*Green Belt: This variety, which matures in 67 days, is an autumn crop. It has short stems and a large head.
*Pinnacle: This broccoli variety, which is the size of a small rosary bead, takes 64 days to mature. The most suitable season for this crop is autumn.
*Ninja: This broccoli variety, which matures in 86 days, is suitable for growing in spring and autumn.
*Arcadia: Both spring and autumn are suitable seasons for this broccoli variety. It takes 86 days to mature.
*Emperor: The most suitable seasons for this broccoli variety, which matures in 65 days, are spring and autumn.
