Ingredients for Orman Kebabı (Turkish Forest Kebab)
- 300 g beef, cut into bite-sized cubes
- 1 dry onion
- 2 potatoes
- 2 zucchini
- 1 carrot
- 2 garlic cloves
- 2 tomatoes
- 500 g (about 1 lb) boiled peas
- 1 handful dill
- 1.5 tablespoons tomato paste (domates salçası)
- 1 tea glass (about 100 ml / 1/3 cup + 1 tbsp) vegetable oil
- 1 dessert spoon (about 2 tsp) Aleppo pepper flakes
- 1 dessert spoon (about 2 tsp) oregano
- ½ dessert spoon (about 1 tsp) black pepper
How to Make Orman Kebabı (Turkish Forest Kebab)
We rinse 300 g of bite-sized beef cubes and cook them over low heat in their own juices until the liquid is absorbed. We dice 1 dry onion into a baking tray and add the meat. We cube 2 potatoes, 2 zucchini, 1 carrot, 2 garlic cloves, and 2 peeled tomatoes. We add 500 g (about 1 lb) of boiled peas on top, then chop 1 handful of dill over everything. We add 1.5 tablespoons of tomato paste (domates salçası), 1 tea glass (about 100 ml / 1/3 cup + 1 tbsp) of vegetable oil, 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of Aleppo pepper flakes, 1 teaspoon of oregano, and ½ teaspoon of black pepper, then mix everything together.
