Ingredients for Savory Chard Cake (Pazılı Tuzlu Kek)

  • 1 water glass (about 200 ml / 3/4 cup + 1 tbsp) yogurt
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Half a packet baking powder
  • 1 bottle of sparkling water (soda)
  • Half a dessert spoon (about 1 tsp) salt
  • Half a dessert spoon (about 1 tsp) Aleppo pepper flakes
  • 3 water glasses (about 600 ml / 2 1/2 cups) flour
  • 1 bunch Swiss chard
  • 1 carrot
  • Poppy seeds for topping

How to Make Savory Chard Cake (Pazılı Tuzlu Kek)

In a bowl, beat together 1 water glass (about 200 ml / 3/4 cup + 1 tbsp) of yogurt, 2 eggs, 2 tablespoons of butter, half a packet of baking powder, 1 bottle of sparkling water, half a dessert spoon of salt, and half a dessert spoon of Aleppo pepper flakes using a hand mixer. Add 3 water glasses of flour on top and beat again. Finely chop a bunch of cleaned and washed Swiss chard and grate 1 carrot. Mix all the ingredients together. Pour the batter into a greased medium-sized round baking pan or oven-safe dish. Sprinkle poppy seeds on top and bake in an oven preheated to 190°C (375°F).
