Ingredients for Swiss Chard with Rice

  • 2 bunches Swiss chard
  • 1 onion
  • 2 long green peppers (sivri biber)
  • ½ tea glass (about 50 ml / 3 tbsp) vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon salça (Turkish tomato/pepper paste)
  • 2 tablespoons rice
  • ½ dessert spoon (about 1 tsp) salt
  • ½ dessert spoon (about 1 tsp) Aleppo pepper flakes
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tea glass (about 100 ml / 1/3 cup + 1 tbsp) water

How to Make Swiss Chard with Rice

Wash 2 bunches of Swiss chard and chop them finely. In a pot, sauté 1 finely diced onion and 2 long green peppers in ½ tea glass (about 50 ml / 3 tbsp) of vegetable oil. Add 1 tablespoon of salça (Turkish tomato/pepper paste) and stir. Add the chopped Swiss chard along with 2 tablespoons of rinsed and picked-over rice. Add ½ dessert spoon of salt and Aleppo pepper flakes, ½ teaspoon of black pepper, then pour in 1 tea glass (about 100 ml / 1/3 cup + 1 tbsp) of water and cook over low heat. You can serve with garlic yogurt.
