Ingredients for Apple Dessert with Sour Cherry Jam

  • 3 apples
  • 4 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 6 tablespoons kaymak (Turkish clotted cream)
  • 6 dessert spoons (about 2 tsp each) sour cherry jam

How to Make Apple Dessert with Sour Cherry Jam

Peel the apples, cut them in half lengthwise, remove the cores, and hollow out the centers slightly. Spread the peeled apple skins along the bottom of a saucepan. Arrange the prepared apples on top and add 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar into each hollowed-out section. Add another 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar directly into the saucepan as well. Pour in just enough water so it does not cover the apples. Once the apples soften, remove from heat. (The apples should be cooked through but not mushy.) Transfer the cooked apples to a glass baking dish. Pour the remaining cooking liquid from the saucepan over the apples in the dish. Bake in a preheated oven at 170°C (340°F) until the apples turn a light pink color. Once baked and cooled, arrange the apples on a serving plate and top each half with 1 tablespoon of kaymak. Finally, add 1 dessert spoon of sour cherry jam on top of each and serve. Enjoy your meal!
