Ingredients for Crispy Baked Börek (Savory Layered Pastry)
- 3 sheets yufka (thin Turkish phyllo-like dough)
- 150 g white cheese (similar to feta)
- 1 handful parsley
- Half a tea glass (about 50 ml / 3 tablespoons) vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 dessert spoon (about 2 tsp) flour
- 1 egg yolk
How to Make Crispy Baked Börek (Savory Layered Pastry)
Mash and mix 150 g of white cheese with 1 handful of chopped parsley. In a small pan, melt half a tea glass of vegetable oil together with 1 tablespoon of butter. Lay 1 sheet of yufka flat on the counter and brush it with the oil mixture. Sprinkle 1 dessert spoon of flour over it, then repeat these steps for all 3 sheets of yufka. Cut the layered yufka into 8 triangular pieces. Place some of the prepared filling at the tip of each triangle and roll them up in the style of sigara böreği (cigar-shaped fried pastry rolls). Arrange them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and brush the tops with 1 egg yolk. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (390°F) until the tops are golden brown. Enjoy!
