Ingredients for Garlic Şehriye Soup (Turkish Orzo Soup with Garlic)

  • 2 dessert spoons vegetable oil
  • 1/2 dessert spoon salt
  • 1 water glass (about 200 ml / 3/4 cup + 1 tbsp) şehriye (Turkish orzo / tiny pasta)
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 dessert spoon mint
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed

How to Make Garlic Şehriye Soup (Turkish Orzo Soup with Garlic)

  1. Fill a soup pot a little more than halfway with water. Add 1 dessert spoon of vegetable oil and 1/2 dessert spoon of salt. Once it comes to a boil, add 1 water glass of şehriye (Turkish orzo / tiny pasta).
  2. In a pan, sauté 1 tablespoon of butter, 1 dessert spoon of vegetable oil, 1 dessert spoon of mint, and 2 crushed garlic cloves together.
  3. Once the şehriye is cooked, pour the prepared butter mixture over it and bring to a brief boil.

 

Pro Tip

You can serve with a splash of vinegar.
