- 9 coffee cups (about 720 ml / 3 cups) flour
- 3 coffee cups (about 240 ml / 1 cup) powdered sugar
- 1 coffee cup (about 80 ml / 1/3 cup) wheat starch
- 1 coffee cup (about 80 ml / 1/3 cup) vegetable oil
- 1 package margarine (softened at room temperature)
- Extra flour as needed
- Powdered sugar for serving
How to Make Flour Cookies (Un Kurabiyesi)
In a large bowl, combine 9 coffee cups (about 720 ml / 3 cups) of flour, 3 coffee cups (about 240 ml / 1 cup) of powdered sugar, 1 coffee cup (about 80 ml / 1/3 cup) of wheat starch, 1 coffee cup (about 80 ml / 1/3 cup) of vegetable oil, 1 package of margarine softened at room temperature, and as much extra flour as needed, then knead into a dough. Take a piece of dough roughly the size of an orange and roll it into a long log. Cut into pieces about 3 fingers thick. Press down on each piece with your hand, straighten the sides, and score lines all over the surface using the back of a fork. Repeat with the remaining dough. Arrange on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and bake in a preheated oven at 160°C (320°F) for 15–20 minutes. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
