Ingredients for Strawberry Jam (Çilek Reçeli)

  • 1 kg (about 2 lb) strawberries
  • 1 kg (about 2 lb) granulated sugar
  • 1 lemon

How to Make Strawberry Jam (Çilek Reçeli)

Wash 1 kg (about 2 lb) of strawberries, remove the stems, and hull them. If any are large, cut them in half and place them in a pot. Add 1 kg (about 2 lb) of granulated sugar on top, close the lid of the pot, and let it sit at room temperature overnight. The next day, place the strawberries on the stove, stir occasionally, and once the mixture comes to a boil, reduce the heat. If any foam forms, skim it off the surface. Once the liquid starts to thicken, squeeze in the juice of 1 lemon, boil for another 5 minutes, then remove from heat.
