Ingredients for Kısır (Turkish Bulgur Salad)
- 2 water glasses (about 200 ml / 3/4 cup + 1 tbsp each) fine bulgur (cracked wheat)
- 1 tablespoon salça (Turkish tomato/pepper paste)
- 1 tea glass (about 100 ml / 1/3 cup + 1 tbsp) vegetable oil
- 1 lemon
- 1 onion
- 6-7 lettuce leaves
- 1 dessert spoon (about 2 tsp) salt
- 1 dessert spoon (about 2 tsp) Aleppo pepper flakes
- 1 teaspoon dried mint
How to Make Kısır (Turkish Bulgur Salad)
Place 2 water glasses of fine bulgur (cracked wheat) into a glass container with a lid. Add hot water until it just covers the bulgur, then close the lid and let it rest until all the water is absorbed. Once the bulgur has absorbed the water, add 1 heaping tablespoon of tomato paste, 1 tea glass of vegetable oil, and the juice of 1 lemon, then mix and blend everything together thoroughly. Finally, add 1 finely chopped onion, 6-7 chopped lettuce leaves, 1 dessert spoon of salt, 1 dessert spoon of Aleppo pepper flakes, and 1 teaspoon of dried mint, stir to combine, and serve.
