About This Recipe

The omega-3 fatty acids and fats found in purslane are so abundant they can rival those found in fish.
Known in the scientific world as Portulacca oleracea, and also referred to as Purslane or Pourpier, this plant goes by different names depending on the region. Shortly after germinating, it produces yellow, purple, and pink flowers, and later becomes edible. Purslane is especially recommended during dieting, as it has a filling effect. Its slightly tangy flavor helps speed up metabolism and makes it easier for the body to stay active. Purslane adds a wonderful flavor alongside meat and fish, and pairs beautifully with certain vegetables, just as in our Purslane and Zucchini Dish recipe.

Purslane is a highly beneficial food for those who suffer from iron deficiency. Thanks to its iron content, it helps increase the production of red and white blood cells. It also regulates blood sugar and is good for hypertension. It provides energy to the body and strengthens the immune system. People with a stronger immune system are less likely to catch viral infections such as the flu. It also doubles the metabolic rate, making weight loss easier. It is an indispensable vegetable in diet plans. It helps protect against certain types of cancer. It reduces the risk of sudden stroke. It is beneficial for those who have difficulty urinating. Purslane supports brain development in children and also prevents constipation. It prevents the formation of kidney sand and helps pass existing kidney stones. It is effective against hemorrhoids. It strengthens muscles. Those who don't like or don't consume fish can absolutely meet their omega-3 needs from purslane. The acids and fats found in fish oil are also present in high amounts in purslane. By eating purslane regularly, it is possible to compensate for the lack of fish in your diet.
