About This Recipe
Mexican beans have firmly established themselves in our country's kitchens in recent years — yet they have actually been consumed in southern Mexico and Central America for 7,000 years.
The benefits of Mexican beans are countless. For example, Mexican beans are high in antioxidants. Their high magnesium content also means that when consumed regularly, they can help relieve conditions such as anxiety, exhaustion, and fatigue. They are known to reduce the risk of cancer. They help prevent cardiovascular disease. They protect bone health. They regulate blood pressure. They support colon function and reduce the symptoms of menopause. They are also very beneficial for regulating bad LDL cholesterol levels. Since they contain a high amount of protein, those who eat them get as much protein as they would from a sufficient serving of meat. Another important and surprising benefit of Mexican beans is that they slow down sugar absorption, helping to regulate your blood sugar levels. This means you won't get hungry quickly, and since your blood sugar doesn't spike, you won't feel the urge to eat. In other words, consuming Mexican beans can make it easier to lose weight.
