Ingredients for Princess Dessert (Prenses Tatlısı)

  • 1 kg (about 2 lb) whole milk
  • 9 tablespoons semolina
  • 8 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 packet vanilla
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • For decoration:
  • Shredded coconut
  • Chocolate sauce
  • Black mulberries

How to Make Princess Dessert (Prenses Tatlısı)

In a saucepan, combine 1 kg of whole milk, 9 tablespoons of semolina, 8 tablespoons of granulated sugar, and 1 packet of vanilla, and cook until thickened. Once cooked, divide the mixture in half. Add 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder to one half and stir well to combine. Moisten a bundt (ring) cake mold with water and drain it. Pour the plain white semolina mixture into the cake mold. Spoon the cocoa semolina mixture on top and spread it evenly. Allow to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate until set. When ready to serve, run a knife along the sides and center of the cake mold to loosen the semolina. (This helps release it from the mold.) Invert onto a serving plate and fill the center with shredded coconut. Drizzle chocolate sauce over the ridged sections of the semolina. Garnish with your choice of fruit — we used black mulberries. Enjoy!

Pro Tips

You can use any fruit you like for decoration. Jam also works wonderfully as a topping — strawberry jam in particular will look absolutely stunning.
