Ingredients for Stuffed Bell Peppers (Biber Dolması)
- 12 bell peppers
- 1 onion
- 300 g (about 10.5 oz) ground beef
- 3 handfuls rice
- 1 tablespoon + 1 dessert spoon (about 2 tsp) tomato paste (domates salçası)
- 2 handfuls parsley
- 1 dessert spoon (about 2 tsp) salt
- 1 tea glass (about 100 ml / 1/3 cup + 1 tbsp) water
- 1 pinch dried mint
- 1 tablespoon margarine
- 1 pinch black pepper
How to Make Stuffed Bell Peppers (Biber Dolması)
In a bowl, combine 300 g of ground beef, 1 finely diced onion, 3 handfuls of cleaned and rinsed rice, 1 heaping tablespoon of tomato paste (domates salçası), 2 handfuls of chopped parsley, 1 pinch of dried mint and black pepper, 1 dessert spoon (about 2 tsp) of salt, and 1 tea glass (about 100 ml / 1/3 cup + 1 tbsp) of water, and mix everything together. Clean and rinse the 12 bell peppers. Fill each pepper with the prepared mixture and arrange them upright in a pot that has been spread with 1 dessert spoon (about 2 tsp) of tomato paste on the bottom, making sure they won't tip over. Place 1 tablespoon of margarine between the stuffed bell peppers. Add water up to halfway up the peppers, add a pinch of salt to the water, and cook until the peppers are tender. Serve with yogurt. Enjoy!…
Cooking Tip
If you peel 1 potato, cut it in half, and place it on the bottom of the pot, the peppers won't tip over and absorb water. This way the filling will stay nicely separated, giving you a more delicious result.
