We're sure that especially those who are single, or those who find celebrating this day unnecessary, will get quite a kick out of this article — and we mean that in the best way! No offense to those who find the day special and truly plan to celebrate February 14th to the fullest. It's a day of love, after all… We just believe that too much of anything can be a bad thing, so we're leaving you with the most interesting Valentine's Day campaigns from past to present.

Free Divorce Giveaway

Yes, you heard that right! A divorce case on Valentine's Day… For the past few years, attorney Walter Bentley has been offering free divorces to couples who can't afford legal fees. And you wouldn't believe how many couples wanted in on this.

The contest does come with its own set of rules, of course… For instance, couples — or one party of the couple — had to put their story down on paper, listing the reasons why they wanted a divorce one by one. They also had to explain in detail why they hadn't been able to get divorced until now, and then submit it all to the attorney. Attorney Bentley would then select the case of the couple in the most difficult situation from among all the applications.

Now This Is One Unique Campaign!

"Get your loved one a special gift — adopt a cockroach in their honor and name it after them," they said, adding: "Flowers wilt, chocolates melt, but cockroaches are forever."

Anyone who wanted to adopt a cockroach in the name of their loved one through this campaign donated $10. The cockroach they adopted would then be given the name of the person they were gifting it to. At the same time, a certificate was mailed to the recipient informing them that there was now a cockroach out there sharing their name. Through this campaign, many cockroaches were adopted, and the zoo managed to raise a significant amount in donations to be used for the care of the animals.

All It Takes Is a Kiss to Get Your Second Meal for Free

Qdoba, the Mexican food restaurant chain, kicked off February 14th with the slogan: "No coupon needed — your lips are enough."

What couples needed to do to get their second meal free after purchasing the first was actually very simple. All they had to do was kiss — their partner, spouse, mother, sibling, or even the stranger standing right behind them at the time. That loving kiss was accepted as payment, and no money was charged for the second meal. Kiss photos sent via social media were also valid. The best part? For every kiss photo submitted throughout February 14th, this famous restaurant chain donated $1 to a charity dedicated to ensuring no child in the world goes hungry — announced on February 15th.

Do You Think "LOVE" Fills Your Stomach?

Famous fast food chain KFC ran a rather interesting campaign right here in our country. With the slogan "Love doesn't fill your stomach," they pulled off something genuinely entertaining. To take part in the campaign, couples had to change their relationship status on Facebook to "Single" for at least one week. Those who managed to do so were rewarded with a "Mini Bucket" filled with delicious pieces of chicken. Those who chose their significant other and refused to change their status were greeted with this message: "One day you'll come crawling back to us…" :)

They Didn't Forget the Singles Either

Hooters, one of America's famous restaurant chains, gave away free chicken wings on Valentine's Day to anyone who brought in and shredded a photo of their ex. And even those who couldn't make it to the restaurant in person could take advantage of this campaign. Customers who used the "online shredder" to shred a photo of their ex while placing an order online were also sent a box of chicken wings.

Their slogan was pretty great too: "Mend your broken heart. Get rid of those remaining photos of that certain someone whose name you'd rather not mention with just a few simple questions. Let your answers give you the most satisfying outcome, and let the healing begin!"
