While the little ones enjoy the flavors they prepared with their own hands, parents will have the peace of mind of knowing their children are eating a healthy and trustworthy burger.

With schools entering the mid-year break, parents are planning different activities for their children. While outdoor activities are usually the first thing that comes to mind, it is absolutely possible to have a great time indoors as well. The kitchen is undoubtedly at the top of that list. Children who step into the kitchen with their parents both have fun and enjoy the flavors they prepare with their own hands.

Bonfilet, a leading company in the red meat industry that brings consumers healthy and trustworthy food, suggested a "Homemade Burger" recipe to add some deliciousness to the school break.

Homemade Burger

For the burger köfte (Turkish meatballs):

500 g (about 1 lb) medium-fat beef and lamb blend Bonfilet ground meat for köfte

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon cumin

1 medium red onion

Black pepper (you can add just the tip of a teaspoon, depending on whether your child likes this spice)

Instructions:

Place your ground meat in a large bowl where you can knead it comfortably. In a separate spot, grate your onions. Add your spices and the grated onions over the ground meat and knead together. Let the kneaded burger köfte rest in the refrigerator for about one hour, then take it out and shape it according to the size of your buns. Heat a preferably ridged cast-iron pan on the stove, then place the burger patties in. Fry both sides of the patties, taking care not to dry them out. Once your patties are ready, you can enrich your burger with lettuce, pickles, and tomatoes according to your child's taste and serve.
