Prep: 50 min

Ingredients for Lahmacun (Turkish Flatbread) — Homemade

  • 300 g (about 10.5 oz) ground meat
  • 1 bread dough ball
  • 1 tablespoon yogurt
  • 1 onion
  • 2 long green peppers (sivri biber)
  • 1 tomato
  • ½ tea glass (about 50 ml / 3½ tbsp) vegetable oil
  • 1 handful parsley
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • Aleppo pepper flakes

How to Make Lahmacun (Turkish Flatbread) — Homemade

  1. In a bowl, knead 1 tablespoon of yogurt together with 1 bread dough ball. Then transfer to a flour-dusted surface and knead again with a little more flour. Once kneaded, shape the dough into a long cylinder and cut it with a knife into 3 equal portions. Dust each portion with flour and roll them out individually into flat rounds.
  2. In a separate bowl, finely dice 1 onion. Add 300 g (about 10.5 oz) of ground meat. Finely chop 2 long green peppers, 1 tomato, and 1 handful of parsley and add them to the bowl. Season with salt, black pepper, and Aleppo pepper flakes, then drizzle in ½ tea glass (about 50 ml / 3½ tbsp) of vegetable oil. Mix everything together until well combined.
  3. Place the rolled-out dough rounds onto a baking tray lined with parchment paper, then spread the prepared meat topping evenly over each one. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (390°F) until the dough is golden and cooked through. Enjoy!
