  • 1 water glass (about 200 ml / 3/4 cup + 1 tbsp) finely ground walnuts
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon Aleppo pepper flakes

How to Make Acuka (Turkish Spicy Pepper and Walnut Spread)

Heat 3 tablespoons of olive oil in a small pan, then grate in 5 peeled garlic cloves. Add 2 tablespoons of tomato paste and 3 tablespoons of red pepper paste, and sauté over low heat until fragrant. Stir in 1 water glass of finely ground walnuts and mix until the oil is released. Finally, add the Aleppo pepper flakes, stir to combine, then remove the paste mixture from the heat and let it cool. In a bowl, mix the cooled paste sauce with 1 water glass of finely ground stale bread crumbs. Spread over slices of bread and serve…

Pro Tip

You can store any leftover Acuka in a jar by drizzling a little olive oil on top and keeping it in the refrigerator.

Cooking Note
