We've reached the end of another year, with all its ups and downs. This New Year's Eve, instead of heading out, you can ring in the new year with a big "hello" from the warmth of your home, surrounded by the people you love. Days before that night, cakes and börek (savory layered pastry) are being baked, and in the morning the meals are being prepared. And when evening comes and our loved ones knock on the door one by one — everything is just perfect. We've had our dinner, our Special New Year's Eve Desserts are gone. But what's a party without snacks? Our Snack Platters Are Ready too — and if you're wondering "so what do we do now for fun?", don't panic! We've put together a collection of games guaranteed to bring plenty of laughs and good times.

It Always Comes First: Tombala (Turkish Bingo)

Of course, it's the first game that comes to mind when you think of New Year's Eve. We can't deny our roots. It's fun among family, but playing with a big crowd takes it to a whole new level. Out of the game box come cards, a drawstring bag, and tombala (Turkish bingo) tokens. The person drawing the numbers calls them out, and if those numbers appear on your chosen card, you cover them up. First row — çinko! Second row — çinko! Aaaand — Tombala!

I Say It's Off-Limits, Friend — Off. Lim. Its.: Taboo

The laugh-packed Taboo, famous for its hilarious moments! Watch out — the words on the card in your hand are strictly forbidden… Just like Tombala, it's an incredibly entertaining game when played with a big group. You split into teams of 2 or 3, the game comes with its own cards, and each card lists words you are NOT allowed to use while describing the main word. In short, you describe the word on the card to your teammates without using any of the forbidden words — while a player from the opposing team stands beside you, holding an hourglass to time you and a buzzer ready to catch your mistakes. The team that correctly guesses the most words wins.

You Could Be the Real Estate King on New Year's Eve: Monopoly

Monopoly is a game where you'll be fighting tooth and nail. It's a real-estate-themed board game. You roll the dice to move around the board and determine how many spaces you advance. You can buy the deeds to the properties your piece lands on, build houses, hotels, and plazas on them, and then charge rent from other players who land there later. Pretty nice, right? With Monopoly, your New Year's Eve is guaranteed to be wildly fun and full of color.

We're Building a Wooden Tower: Jenga

When you reach the top with strategic moves, you'd better be ready for a psychological battle with your opponent. Jenga is a kind of balance game and it's incredibly thrilling. You build a tower out of wooden blocks and try to make it taller by pulling blocks from the bottom and placing them on top. Whoever topples the tower first loses their cool — just saying.

Shh, Quiet Down Please: Charades

One of the timeless classic home games. Even if you don't have a board game or even a deck of cards for New Year's Eve, you can split into 2 teams with your loved ones and play Charades for hours without getting bored. Speaking out loud is forbidden — you'll have to use your body language. Best of luck in advance...

Give Me Words Full of Meaning: Scrabble

As the title suggests, it's a type of word game. Scrabble, which has become quite popular in our country in recent years, is played by forming meaningful words with letters on small tiles, written onto the special board that comes inside the box. It actually has the quality of teaching while entertaining. A true family game.

Step Forward If You Can Finish This Game Without an Argument: Uno

Uno is actually an incredibly fun card game with sky-high adrenaline. We'll just say upfront — try your best not to get into a fight with your loved ones. Many of us know this game as "Dirty Sevens." You could actually say Uno is a version of Dirty Sevens printed on special cards. If you don't have Uno cards, no problem — you can play Dirty Sevens with a regular deck and get the exact same thrill and enjoyment.
