New Year's Hangover? Here's What You Need
If you celebrated the New Year by drinking alcohol, you're probably starting the next morning with a headache and nausea. We didn't want you to spend the first day of the year like that, so we put together this guide just for you.

You set the table to shake off the fatigue and stress of the whole year, or you had a great time out with your loved ones. The food and drinks were all yours — now tell us how you're feeling…
All the varied dishes and generous amounts of alcohol consumed last night are the reason you woke up this morning with a throbbing head, piercing headache, that bitter taste in your mouth, a coated tongue, dizziness, nausea, and even the urge to vomit. All of this is the handiwork of "acetaldehyde" — the substance that alcohol converts into during digestion in our bodies, and which is dozens of times more toxic than alcohol itself. In fact, if you eat a slice of toast and a tablespoon of extra-virgin olive oil before starting your New Year's Eve meal, you can help protect your stomach against alcohol. And drinking plenty of water and taking vitamin C before bed will help you wake up feeling better on the morning — or rather, the afternoon — of January 1st.

Eat a banana to help yourself feel better. Thanks to the natural fructose it contains, a banana will boost your energy levels. The potassium in it also helps your body replenish the electrolytes you've lost. Bananas also help reduce alcohol's vasodilating effect and assist in bringing your blood pressure back to normal.

Experts agree that you should drink a variety of herbal teas throughout the day. If you have excessive gas in your stomach and intestines, drink fennel tea. If you have a headache, mint and chamomile tea will help. If you're experiencing indigestion and the effects of alcohol haven't fully worn off yet, green tea, fennel, and ginger tea will all be beneficial.

First things first — get some good sleep to cleanse your system. Once you wake up, have a wonderful breakfast. To fully flush last night's excess alcohol out of your bloodstream, drink at least 13 glasses of warm or hot water throughout the day. Today, it's also particularly beneficial to eat plenty of oranges, mandarins, lemons, grapefruit, long green peppers, arugula, parsley, and tomatoes.

In the evening, we recommend the most healing Vegetable Soup so you can feel your very best. Here's to many more happy, healthy years ahead…
