Ingredients for Orange Marmalade (Portakal Reçeli)
- 4 oranges
- 1 kg (about 2.2 lbs) granulated sugar
- 1 lemon
How to Make Orange Marmalade (Portakal Reçeli)
Peel the 4 oranges and place them whole into a pot. Add water until they are covered, bring to a boil, then drain the water and add fresh water to boil again. Repeat this process 3 times. (This removes the bitterness from the oranges.) Then add water halfway up the pot and boil once more. Once the oranges in the pot have cooled, cut them into cubes in the same cooking water. Add 1 kg of sugar, squeeze in 1 lemon, and simmer over low heat. If the marmalade doesn't drip off your fingernail, it's done. :) Enjoy!
Pro Tip
Squeeze the lemon in toward the end of cooking.
