  • 2 water glasses (about 200 ml / 3/4 cup + 1 tbsp each) rice
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 water glass şehriye (Turkish orzo / tiny pasta)
  • 3 water glasses water
  • 1 dessert spoon (about 2 tsp) salt

How to Make Rice Pilaf with Orzo (Arpa Şehriyeli Pirinç Pilavı)

Sort and rinse 2 water glasses of rice. Place in a bowl, cover with hot water until submerged, and let soak until the water cools. In a pilaf pot, melt 3 tablespoons of butter and 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add 1 water glass of şehriye (Turkish orzo) and sauté until golden. After sautéing, add 3 water glasses of water and bring to a boil, then add the drained rice and sprinkle with salt. Once it comes to a boil again, reduce the heat and cook for 15 minutes. After the pilaf is cooked, cover the top with a paper towel and let it rest for a few minutes. Once rested, fill a soup bowl with pilaf and invert onto a serving plate to serve. Enjoy your meal...
