Ingredients for Sandwich Poğaça (Turkish Savory Pastry Rolls)
- 1 water glass (about 200 ml / 3/4 cup + 1 tbsp) yogurt
- 1 egg
- 1 egg white and 1 egg yolk (separated)
- 1 tea glass (about 100 ml / 1/3 cup + 1 tbsp) vegetable oil
- 2 tablespoons margarine
- 1 dessert spoon (about 2 tsp) salt
- Flour, as much as needed
- 1 packet baking powder
- 150 g white cheese (similar to feta)
- Nigella seeds
How to Make Sandwich Poğaça (Turkish Savory Pastry Rolls)
In a bowl, knead together 1 water glass of yogurt, 1 egg, 1 egg white, 1 tea glass of vegetable oil, 2 tablespoons of margarine, 1 dessert spoon of salt, flour as needed, and 1 packet of baking powder until the dough no longer sticks to your hands. Take pieces of dough roughly the size of a mandarin orange and roll each one out into an oval shape on a work surface. Place white cheese in the center and roll up like a log. Brush the tops of the poğaça with egg yolk and sprinkle with nigella seeds. Arrange on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and bake at 200°C (390°F).
