How to Make Şekerpare (Turkish Semolina Cookies in Syrup)
In a bowl, combine 2 eggs and 1 egg yolk (set the egg white aside to brush on top), 1 packet baking powder, 1 packet vanilla, 1 packet (250 g) vegetable margarine, 3 tablespoons granulated sugar, and as much flour as needed, then knead into a dough. Shape the dough into round balls and arrange them on a baking tray. Press one hazelnut into the top of each ball, brush with the reserved egg white, and bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (400°F) until the tops are golden brown. In a saucepan, boil 4 water glasses of granulated sugar, 5 water glasses of water, and 2–3 drops of lemon juice until the syrup thickens. Once the şekerpare have cooled, pour the hot syrup over them. Enjoy…
