Ingredients for Revani (Turkish Semolina Cake)

  • 3 eggs
  • 1 water glass (about 200 ml / 3/4 cup + 1 tbsp) granulated sugar
  • 1 water glass milk
  • 1 water glass vegetable oil
  • 1 water glass semolina
  • 1 water glass flour
  • 1 packet vanilla
  • 1 packet baking powder
  • For the syrup: 1.5 water glasses water
  • 1.5 water glasses granulated sugar
  • 2-3 drops lemon juice
  • Shredded coconut for garnish

How to Make Revani (Turkish Semolina Cake)

  1. In a bowl, beat 3 eggs with 1 water glass of sugar. Add 1 water glass of milk, 1 water glass of vegetable oil, 1 water glass of semolina, 1 water glass of flour, 1 packet of vanilla, and 1 packet of baking powder, then beat again. Pour this mixture into a greased glass baking dish. Bake in the oven at 180°C (350°F) until the top turns golden pink. Once baked, cut into squares while still hot in its own dish.
  2. In a separate saucepan, bring 1.5 water glasses of water, 1.5 water glasses of granulated sugar, and 2-3 drops of lemon juice to a boil. Remove from heat 1-2 minutes after the sugar has dissolved. Once the syrup has cooled, pour it over the baked revani and serve with shredded coconut after the revani has absorbed the syrup. Enjoy!
