- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
How to Make Sosyete Mantısı (Turkish "Society" Dumplings)
- Tomato sauce: Place 3 peeled and diced tomatoes into a saucepan. Add 1 cube of sugar, 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil, 1 teaspoon of salt, and ½ teaspoon of black pepper, then cook until the sauce comes together.
- Filling: Combine 250 g (about ½ lb) of ground meat, 1 finely chopped onion, 1 handful of chopped parsley, ½ teaspoon of black pepper, and 1 teaspoon of salt, then knead everything together.
- Cut 1 sheet of yufka in half. Place one half on the counter and spread the prepared meat filling along the entire length of the wide edge. Fold in the sides and roll it up, then coil it into a rose shape. Repeat with the remaining half, then cut the second sheet of yufka in half and repeat the same process. Fry in hot oil until golden. When serving, drizzle with garlicky yogurt and tomato sauce.
Cooking Tip
You can also bake them in the oven, but we have to say — frying in oil gives a much tastier result!
