Ingredients for Tomato Soup (Domates Çorbası)
- 5 tomatoes
- 1 tablespoon butter
- Half a tea glass of vegetable oil (about 50 ml / 3 tbsp + 1 tsp)
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1.5 tablespoons salça (Turkish tomato/pepper paste)
- 3 water glasses of water (about 600 ml / 2.5 cups)
- 1 dessert spoon salt (about 2 tsp)
- Grated kaşar cheese (Turkish semi-hard cheese, similar to mild cheddar)
How to Make Tomato Soup (Domates Çorbası)
Grate 5 tomatoes into a bowl. Place 1 tablespoon of butter and half a tea glass (about 50 ml / 3 tbsp + 1 tsp) of vegetable oil into a pot and, once the butter has melted, add 2 tablespoons of flour and sauté. Add the grated tomatoes, stir in 1.5 tablespoons of salça (Turkish tomato/pepper paste), and cook the tomatoes for a few minutes, mixing with a hand blender. Add 3 water glasses (about 600 ml / 2.5 cups) of water and 1 dessert spoon of salt and cook until thickened. Serve topped with grated kaşar cheese. Enjoy your meal…
