Ingredients for Cheesy Baked Bread Bites
- 1/2 tea glass of vegetable oil (about 50 ml / 3½ tbsp)
- 6 slices stale bread
- 2 tomatoes
- 2 long green peppers
- 100 g white cheese (similar to feta)
- 1 tablespoon oregano
How to Make Cheesy Baked Bread Bites
Dice the 2 tomatoes into small pieces.
Dice the 2 long green peppers into small pieces (if you can't find long green peppers, any mild green pepper will work).
Put 100 g of white cheese into a wide bowl and mash it with a fork. Add the diced tomatoes and diced long green peppers, then mix everything together well.
Pour in 1/2 tea glass of vegetable oil (about 50 ml / 3½ tbsp) and sprinkle in 1/2 tablespoon of oregano. Mix thoroughly so everything is evenly combined.
Spoon the cheese topping onto the stale bread slices, spreading it evenly across all 6 pieces.

Line a baking tray with parchment paper and arrange the topped bread slices on it.
Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 tablespoon of oregano over the top.
Bake at 200°C (390°F) until the bread is golden and the topping is bubbling. Serve hot.
Tips
We used plain white sliced bread here, but whole wheat or rye bread works just as well — the flavor will be a bit more robust.
White cheese is the classic choice, but kaşar cheese, lor cheese, or a mix of all three are all good alternatives.
Oregano is the go-to spice here. A little dried basil alongside it is a nice addition if you have it.
For a more colorful topping, fold in some finely chopped roasted red pepper or a handful of sliced black olives.
Bake until the cheese is fully melted and the edges are lightly browned — that's what gives you the crisp finish.
