- 1 kg (about 2 lbs) fava beans
- 1 onion
- 2 tablespoons flour
- ½ dessert spoon (about 1 tsp) salt
- 2 sugar cubes
- 1 tea glass (about 100 ml / 1/3 cup + 1 tbsp) vegetable oil
- 1 handful dill
How to Make Olive Oil Braised Fava Beans (Zeytinyağlı Bakla)
We wash 1 kg (about 2 lbs) of fava beans, snap off the stem ends, and break them in half. In a pot, we add 1 finely chopped onion, 1 kg of fava beans, 2 tablespoons of flour, ½ dessert spoon of salt, 2 sugar cubes, and 1 tea glass of vegetable oil. We cover the pot and let the beans cook in their own juices until they turn slightly yellow. Once yellowed, we add enough water to just cover them.
